Directions to Rock Creek Trout Bums

DIRECTIONS:

Rock Creek is located off I-90 exit 126, whether you’re coming from the east or the west, this is the exit you’ll want to take.

 From the Missoula Airport, turn right (east) onto Hwy 93. About a mile down the road, there will be a sign to turn left and go to I-90, take this turn. When you get to I-90, you will want to head east, so turn right onto the highway. Continue on I-90 until you see the Van Buren exit, take this and turn right onto Van Buren. Get into the center lane; go through the light (at Van Buren and Broadway). You will see an Albertson’s grocery store and shopping center; this is an easy place to get your supplies. Across the street (Broadway) you’ll see a fly-shop called Kingfisher; you can stop there to get your fishing license if you didn’t take care of it online https://app.mt.gov/Als/Index .

To head to Rock Creek, get back on I-90 via Van Buren, heading east. You will go about 15 miles and will see the town of Clinton. There is a small grocery store and gas station there (for further information); continue on past Clinton about 6 miles and you’ll see the Rock Creek exit (126). Take that exit and turn right (south). If you’re coming from the east, you will turn left and cross the overpass. About 1 mile up the road on your right  will be Ekstrom’s Stage Station (restaurant).

Trout Bums office is located at 824 Rock Creek Road (8 1/2 miles South of I-90). When you pull in the driveway, you will notice 3 buildings – the office is the one in the middle. Please note that we do not keep regular office hours, and are available by appointment only.  Your final payment should have been made online unless other arrangements have been made.  Once your final payment was made, a key code should have been sent to the email you provided when you made your reservation, along with our landline phone number.  Our message/text number is 406/825-6146; please listen to the message and you will be given a landline number to call – otherwise just text to 406/825-6146. THERE IS NO RELIABLE CELL PHONE COVERAGE AT ROCK CREEK BEYOND MILE 5.  There IS internet at all of the cabins, and a Verizon cell booster at some of them.

Valley of the Moon Homestead To get to the cabins at Valley of the Moon notice the bridge that crosses the stream (Valley of the Moon bridge) at about mile 2 South from I-90 – you’ll need to cross that.  Follow that road, and stay to the left – notice the buildings in the near distance and our Trout Bums sign on the gate post.  Stay on that lane; once you get to the home, if you’re staying in the Guest Quarters, please park on the left.  If you’re staying in the Governor’s Quarters, please park on the right.  There is no land line at either of these units, but your Verizon cell phones should work; there is also wireless internet.  Once your final payment has been made online, a key code will be sent to access your unit.

RIVERSTONE  Turn right on Sawmill Fishing Access Road (just South of the 8 mile marker) and go until the road forks 3 ways. There is a cabin at the top of the hill (the middle fork) take the left fork (in front of the cabin) and go down the hill; the road will make a couple bends, after the second bend you will see a log home constructed of huge logs on your right – that is Riverstone! SERENDIPITY Turn right on Sawmill Fishing Access Road (just South of the 8 mile marker) and go until the road forks 3 ways. There is a cabin at the top of the hill (the middle fork) take the left fork (in front of the cabin) and go down the hill; the road will make a couple bends, after the second bend you look for the second driveway on your left – you’ll see a green mailbox with the number 14 on it – take that and drive through to the end.  Your cabin will be the first one on the right (owners are in the larger, main home) – please park outside the fence to the right of the cabin.  There is no land line at this unit, but your Verizon cell phones should work; there is also wireless internet.   Once your final payment has been made online, a key code will be sent to access your unit.

TROUTHAUS Turn right on Sawmill Fishing Access Road (just South of the 8 mile marker) and go until the road forks 3 ways. There is a cabin at the top of the hill (the middle fork) take the right fork and it will be the first place on your left – Trouthaus has a beautiful stone fireplace that can be seen from the road – you’ve arrived! RANCH CREEK RANCH Watch for Norton campground which is just before the 11 mile mark- you will turn in the next driveway on your right. You’ll see our Trout Bum sign on the gatepost; drive down the hill, and you’ve made it to RCR. Phone: 406/825-4477 land line and wireless internet.   Once your final payment has been made online, a key code will be sent to access your unit.

BIG HAT NO CATTLE  Watch for Norton campground, which is just before the 11 mile mark; the next drive will be RCR, and the second driveway on the right, South of Norton, is Big Hat.  You’ll see our Trout Bum sign on the gatepost, and when you pull into the driveway you’ll see 3 buildings…the house, guest house, and barn.  Phone: 406/825-6750 land line and wireless internet.   Once your final payment has been made online, a key code will be sent to access your unit.
